How do I ensure my department is fulfilling its health & safety responsibilities?
A vital part of what we do here at the Safety Office is to undertake an audit programme to ensure you are achieving legal compliance and that we are supporting your management needs.
Heads of departments are expected to satisfy themselves each year that the health and safety arrangements within their departments meet the requirements of University policy statements. To help you do this we have created a health and safety self-assurance questionnaire.
While Heads of Department are responsible for ensuring the questionnaire is completed it is assumed that Departmental Safety Officers (DSO) will be nominated to undertake the review, complete the questionnaire and submit this to their Head of Department for approval.
If someone other than the DSO is going to complete the questionnaire, please notify us. Completed and approved questionnaires must be forwarded to us in the University Safety Office.
